Nominated for the SMS London PhD Paper Prize 2020
My proposal on brokerage and innovative performance was nominated for the PhD Paper Prize of the 2020 SMS Annual Conference.
The Strategic Management Society nominated my conference proposal Is High Innovative Performance without Brokerage Possible? A Necessary Condition Analysis for the SMS London PhD Paper Prize 2020. The prize is for papers by doctoral students at the SMS Annual Conference. The co-chairs, Vibha Gaba and Isin Guler, judged the full papers developed from the nominated proposals.
The paper shows that brokerage, connecting colleagues who are otherwise unconnected, is a necessary but not sufficient condition for high innovative performance. Employees in closed networks can only partly make up for its absence.
The prize went to another paper. I presented the paper at the virtual SMS Annual Conference on 27 October 2020.
